Views - revisited
« on: August 28, 2003, 09:25:52 am »

Can I make a small request?

I am forever having to open List Style and change the style depending on whether I'm looking at an artists albums or the details inside an album.
Would it be at all possible to have Details and Album Thumbnails as separate buttons that I could place on the toolbar?
Small potatoes, I know but it would save me having to open a menu each time.

Thanks.

I've just started to use this feature too. Previously I just used details view all the time but now use Album Thumbnails for album based view schemes.

The list style selected seems to stick with the view scheme but then all of a sudden all of my view schemes will change to album thumbnails.  This is really annoying and I have to go through all non-album-based schemes individually to change them back to details view.

I haven't worked out a pattern yet but no doubt someone has and can enlighten me.  Does it just happen when I install a new build?

I agree with these guys. I like to have album thumbnail views for all view levels until I get down to a single album, and I then like to see the detail view.

This was completely possible in 9.0 (and was one of the reasons that I purchased it), and frankly, I don't think that having to hit modifier keys during basic browsing is acceptable.

That's a good second best but it cycles through the choices with pauses in between.
Buttons would mean an instant change.

It's probably too late to introduce user configurable views as there was a fruitless thread/request for it some while ago. Is adding a couple of buttons that difficult?

Thanks.

Any further comment before this disappears off the screen?

We'll add some more toolbar buttons / shortcuts once the bugs settle down.

If it helps, you can switch list modes using the command line like this:

mjextman /MCC 22008,x
(x = 0-3 for the different modes)

You can also add a custom keyboard shortcut by editing [MC]\Data\Default Resources\Resource.xml

One thing I'm finding a LOT is that with 'Album' styled views - I have it set to Images Grouped by album which is great.

When I use the panes to navigate down to the individual album however and find the album I want, i have to then change to details to view each song, then back to images grouped again to browse by album again, then to details for the songs in that album etc.

I know it was discussed before - is there ANY chance that the view could automatically switch to 'Details' mode when it is in 'Album Grouped Images' and we are selecting ONE album ?

No, please. It would not be consistent. IMO, We just need a button to toggle between detalied view and album view.

I agree. This is the only logic solution for me. What speaks against it?

What do you do when one single album is showed? You want to see the details to choose a track.

This seems to be another of those things that everyone wants but nobody gets.

It seems so obvious that you would want to see thumbnails of albums and details of tracks (or at least be able to configure it that way) but as the previous thread got us nowhere, I can't see this one doing it either.

I was hoping for the simple, half way measure of just taking the buttons out of the menu and onto the toolbar.

Another thing for version 10 perhaps?

Why not same thing for tool bar buttons?

Like: <Entry Command="22008" Param="3" Icon=albumart.png />
