Hi all,
I have found that my two favourite headphone-related DSPs break gapless playback on JRiver MC21 (but not on foobar2000). A click (not very loud but very easy to hear for me at least) happens at exactly the same point every time, and by playing with the pre-buffering setting I can push it one way or the other. The pop seems to happens exactly when the pre-buffering should be kicking in (if I understand this correctly anyway
). For example on a 4:26 track I hear the click at 4:20 every single time.
I tried playing with the various buffers (as well as the various gapped/gapless settings) and it makes absolutely no difference. Turning off those specific DSPs instantly makes playback flawless again. Happens on two completely different PCs with different hardware and a different OS (Win 7 64 with a Xonar u7 vs Win 10 64 and a Fiio K1). Output mode (DS, WASAPI, ASIO) also makes no difference.
Not exactly sure
when this started happening but it is important to note that I can't reproduce those issues on foobar2000 using the same settings and the exact same DSPs. And I definitely had no such issue in the past with older JRiver versions (heck, I know for a fact the issue doesn't occur in MC20 which I have on my work machine). I haven't been doing much "critical" listening lately which is why I can't say exactly
when it started but it must be pretty recent as I'm very sensitive to this type of issue.
The two plugins I'm talking about come from this site :
http://www.toneboosters.com/ TB Isone (latest version, 3.1.3 with a valid licence) and
TB Isone Surround (free but hasn't been updated for a while, 2.9.1)
I use one or the other depending on the content (of course not both at the same time :p ) and I absolutely can't live without them anymore.
Any ideas?
*I have version 21.0.30 right now. I could update it but judging by the changelog I doubt it will make any difference.
