Not Detecting Handheld (MTP)

I have two MTP based devices (a Windows 10 Phone and an AK120 II player) that used to work fine with MC but are now no longer being detected.  I know this has been happening in version 34 and 35. My OS can see these devices just fine, but even redetecting with MC does not light them up.

Any thoughts as to what might be going on?
