Not finding any channels for Silicon Dust HDTV tuner
« on: January 16, 2016, 06:50:40 pm »

Hi All,
I have JRiver Media Center 21 on a new windows 10 PC.
I installed HDHomeRun VIEW and I can hear but not see all of the over-the-air ATSC antenna channels in that program as tuned in by my SiliconDust HDHomeRun Network-based Single Digital HDTV Tuner HDHR-T1-US Ethernet Interface.
So, I tried to use that tuner with JRMC21.
Everything seems good, but in the final scan it does not find a single channel.
I have checked the Windows firewall settings and am allowed so far as I can tell.
I have retried, rebooted, etc., multiple times and the same thing just keeps happening.
Help?!
Many thanks.

If you can not make it work in HDHomeRun VIEW, you may have a driver problem.  I suggest you update/reinstall the driver.

For using the device in JRiver MC, make sure you choose JRiver Media Center in HDHomeRun Setup, on Configuration tab.  See attached screenshot.

No, I believe it is that Windows 10 no longer has MPEG2 codec included, so a codec pack is required to view in the 'View' app.

If MC isn't finding channels, I would re-check the Windows Firewall.  Make sure that MC has access.  You could always try to temporarily disable the firewall to verify...and if you are really worried about that, just disconnect you internet while you try (just unplug your modem - unless your modem is your router as well, in which case, just unplug the internet cable.)

What guide provider did you choose during setup? Just default (Rovi)?
What zip code did you provide?
If you go to http://www.msn.com/en-us/tv/tv-listings or http://www.tvguide.com/listings/ and put in your zip code, do any channels/listings come up?
What if you try another nearby zip code in MC?
