Windows 10 Build 14251 - no video [Fixed by Win10 update]
« on: January 29, 2016, 09:19:25 am »

Hi,

Video no longer works through JRiver (21.0.42) on my pc with Windows 10 Build 14251. Get "something went wrong with playback" message.

Thanks,

Matt

I assume you're running MC21.0.42. Windows 10 14251 is an "Insider Build", its cutting edge (came out two days ago) and has known issues (of course) see http://www.tenforums.com/windows-10-news/38826-announcing-windows-10-insider-preview-build-14251-a.html some people have reported the install messed up or removed their "drivers".

JRiver is hard enough (IMO) to get right with Win10 released version. I think your asking for trouble mixing JRiver with Win10 Insider Builds (unless your a computer geek and really know this stuff).

Okay I'm off my soapbox now.  ;D
Good Luck

Hi,

Video no longer works through JRiver (12.042) on my pc with Windows 10 Build 14251. Get "something went wrong with playback" message.

Thanks,

Check that your audio card drivers are still working and that the correct output device is selected in Options>Audio.

14251 is severly buggy. Don't use insider builds if you want your system to function.
Please report breakage to Microsoft.

Confirmed on my 'Xperimental' PC and reported to Insider feedback, both, no video on all formats with playback method on Automatic and working with JRiver openGL video engine (experimental).
Thank you to offer an alrternative to the broken Win10 update.

As a rule of thumb, I'd expect things to be broken when using Insider builds.

That said, I also wouldn't expect JRiver to look into issues that occur on Insider builds until the final build lands. I'd be surprised if they did. ;)

Agree with both statements, what's why my HTPC is running last official update not the insider's.
To be clear, the openGL workaround is OK with me and it was a true thank you to JRiver, not a request :-)

I had video playback issues as well with 14251, ended up rolling back to 11102 and set to slow ring for a while.
I stumbled into this since - I'm pretty sure this was LAV related on mine.

So video works with JRiver OpenGL video engine.

Could you point me to where to change to the OpenGL engine? I've searched the Wiki/Forums and looked through the options but can't find the relevant settings.

There is a new fast ring build available, can only hope they fixed these problems again.

Problem has resolved in new build. MC initiated the "Adding required components..." on video file playback and on first impressions, all seems okay.

Yes, the W10 Build 14257 has video working for me in JRiver as well.

FYI envyc, the JRiver openGL video engine (experimental) is found under Options / File Types.
