Can i make the screen go black with a hotkey?
« on: February 03, 2016, 12:08:58 pm »

I often use the TV to start my music selection, but then want the TV to blank out.  Any suggestion for how to do this with a hotkey, perhaps?

thank you.

Have you looked at using a remote like Gizmo or JRemote?   You could leave your TV off.  The wiki has a topic on Remotes.

This is why I started using JRemote. I don't want my display on because it has fans and a bulb with a finite life... I just wanted a way to do the audio server without turing on the projector.

Display Fusion has a whole host of Hotkeys you can set for things like that (and all sorts of other awesome stuff).

You could set your screensaver to blank, and assign the Start Screen Saver command, for example. If you're using HDMI audio to a receiver, be careful with things that actually sleep your monitor. This can (depending on the GPU drivers and hardware in your computer) interrupt playback.

Or you could use something like Girder or EventGhost to do the same.
