AES to Direct Digital/PWM Amps
« on: February 07, 2016, 05:16:21 am »

Hi All,

I am currently using a JRiver HTPC with a Lynx TWO B sound card for surround sound in my home theatre (using the HTPC as the AVR/Processor). I am looking at adding more channels, but I am considering a new approach using a Lynx AES16e card connected to direct digital / pulse width modulation amplifiers. Two possibilities I am considering are:

Lynx AES16e ---> AES inputs on multiple NAD C 390DD ---> Speakers

Lynx AES16e ---> AES/EUB Impedence Transformers ---> SPDIF Coax inputs on multiple Lyngdorf SDA-2400 ---> Speakers

Any thoughts/comments on this method would be much appreciated. I know the equipment is pricey, but I managed to pick up a used Lynx AES16e card for about $150 recently!

Cheers,

David
