Pop-Up Messages of Upcoming Programs Interrupting TV Viewing

About half the time when watching TV programs there is a popup message with notification of an upcoming program that interrupts the video for about a second.   It seems to happen usually when I am watching a program while it is being recorded.  Very annoying.  How do I get rid of this?

The first line will show the name of the current program indicating that it is currently being recorded.   A second sentence underneath that will state that  abc show is up next in 29 minutes for example and then the message disappears.   It will pop up every 3-4 minutes or so until the show ends.

Ha! I was wondering what these popups were, because I never see them.

That is the On Screen Display, usually accessed by pressing the up or down arrow. Something on your PC or remote must be activating the OSD every three to four minutes!

You have some work to do to find out what is doing that.

I haven't found the cause of this behavior, however, it has gone away since I switched to separate client and server each on a dedicated machine.
