notes regarding DVD player
« on: August 22, 2003, 04:37:24 am »

Now that I have excellent sound, I notice some differences regarding music/concert DVDs.

(1)  Some simply start up without intervention (e.g., Eric Clapton's "Crossroads Benefit Concert")

(2)  Some need intervention, and prompt me for "play", "setup audio", etc.  I simply use the arrow keys to select, and 'enter' for "go". (e.g., Peter Gabriel "Secret World Live")

(3)  ... and then there is Paul McCartney's "Back in the US Tour" DVD which simply hangs at the prompt, and neither the keyboard or the mouse will work (??)

I don't know that I have a question ... but I would like to understand the differences from one DVD to another, and how the different player softwares work across them (including cinema DVDs).  Is there an DVD industry FAQ somewhere?
