enabling flash so that I can watch Hulu
« on: March 12, 2016, 11:00:52 pm »

I can view the webpage but when I try to play a video in JR21 on W10, I get a message telling me I need to install adobe flash.  I have this already on the computer but I still get the error.  How do I fix this?

Is flash unsupported in JRiver within the browsers or is it unsupported by the browsers themselves, and I have always viewed videos in HTML 5 but never knew about it?

Hulu uses Flash? Huh? That doesn't make sense... Silverlight on the other hand would make perfect sense.

If they're going HTML5 (MSE and EME) like Netflix/Amazon, Hulu is likely in the same boat as Netflix and Amazon. Which actually isn't a good thing.

Do I have to manually enable Silverlight within the JRiver player?  When I try to play videos through jriver connected media, I get an error message telling me I have to install flash player 11 or higher.  I'm using the chromium browser option.

Although I have no problem viewing Hulu with Flashplayer and the Firefox browser on my Mac Mini I am having the same problem as the others above have had trying to view Hulu through the jriver connection. As has been mentioned Hulu is telling me to install Flashplayer v11 or greater where v21 is already installed. Does anyone know of a solution or work around that will allow access to Hulu videos using jriver for Mac?

Why in the world is Hulu using Flash anyways, especially in 2016? They should've switched to HTML5 around the time Netflix and Amazon Instant Video did when HTML5 ESE/EME landed in Chrome and Firefox. It's likely Flash support in MC is not easily doable, as I believe I saw Hendrik mention that adding Pepper Flash to the embedded Chromium didn't work out too well.

I'd wait for Hulu to support HTML5 playback and ditch Flash for good.

"It's likely Flash support in MC is not easily doable."

I was able to play Hulu videos using MC as far back as v17 and they looked absolutely excellent compared to the very noticably inferior quality playback when using the ICC Color Management enabled Firefox browser. If I didn't already know how completely superior the picture quality of JMRC rendered Hulu videos look I wouldn't be so interested in seeing this capability returned to MC. Would it be possible for this excellent feature to be restored in the current version of MC?
