Using JRemote to access JRiver from a cellphone
« on: March 13, 2016, 03:50:53 pm »

HI,

Sorry if this is a redundant post.  I have looked around the Forum but have not found an answer that has helped me.  I know that might mean that I am beyond help.  But...

I am able to use my iPhone 5 while on wifi at home to control JRiver remotely.  I am able to stream from the JRiver library over wifi at home to my iPhone.  When I turn off the wifi  on my phone, I am no longer able to connect as I should be able to over wireless.  I get a screen on my phone that asks me to wake JRiver.  But the attempt always times out.  I get a screen that says I am not connected.  As soon as I turn the wifi on my phone back on, I am able to connect to JRiver.  I have tried to follow any instructions that I came across here on this forum and over on Computer Audiophile.  I am not real computer literate.  So please keep suggestions simple and step by step if you can.  Thanks so much in advance.

Best Regards,

Would I be wise to switch to remote control with Gizmo over JRemote?  Thanks.

Your problem is probably that something is blocking network access.  WebGizmo and JRemote would have the same behavior until that is fixed.  The wiki topic on network access should help.
