Wiki Page for 3D Movies
« on: April 08, 2016, 10:15:55 am »

Could someone please write a Wiki page for the 3D movie funcion ?

What and how to install it, so that it works fine... I want to play 3D movies Half-SBS and Half-OU out of MKV files...

How do I define subtitles for 3D movies ?
Do simple SRT subtitles work or do they also have to be Half-SBS/Half-OU ?

Thanks for some real help

Such files are not supported yet, unless you manually set your TV into SBS or OU mode.

The please explain what that line means (change in version 065...)

5. NEW: 3D Blu-ray and MKV 3D support.

What works, what doesn't, etc... of special interest is the subtitle story...

I own an EPSON 1080p HD projector and have to set it within its menu to SBS or OU, so far so good...
But I don't know what I have to do within MC21... are the special drivers and components already there?
Do I have to install something to make it work?
Do the MKV files have to have a special file extension?
and so on...

Thanks

SBS and OU formats require no additional support from the player except from OSD and some subtitles (some work, some don't, depends on what format they're use I guess). The picure will just look like a split double picture until you go into the menu of the TV and tell it so combine the double picture into a 3D picture. How to do that is mentioned in your TV's instruction manual. As far as I know all 3D TV's support SBS and/or OU because TV broadcasts use those formats (however with TV broadcasts it's automatic).

The 3D support in MC 21 is for the frame packed format which is on 3D Blu-rays. This is better because it is full HD and not half resolution like SBS and OU (unless you are running full-SBS or full-OU on a 4K screen).

EDIT: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=103931.0 here are the setup instructions. I guess they will be added to the Wiki some time soon.

There is an entire thread with explanations over here: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=103931.0
