VR6,
Got it. Here is a quick preview of my setup. It should work assuming the actual files/albums are all fine.
1) On the QNAP/HD Station/MC, go to Tools->Options. Then in the left panel select "Media Network". Select checkbox next to "Use Media Network to share this library and enable DLNA.
Right underneath, there should be a "... Access Key: " and 6 character alphanumeric key. For my QNAP, I had to click on it, then say yes, to get that 6 character word to pop up.
2) On either my iPhone or iPad, I purchased JRemote (yeah, it sucks you have to pay again, but this is a really easy to use app). There are other DLNA apps out there but they require a little more setup. With JRemote, I simply choose "Add a new server", then "Connect with access key", and then type in the 6 character alphanumeric key.
3) Then, on JRemote, at the bottom of the screen, there is the name of the server, and then "Player". Select this, and then choose "This device". Basically, you need to set the zone to "This device" which means the output is sent out the lightning connector.
4) I have Apple's official Camera Connector Kit (lightning to USB), that I then connect to a USB->MicroUSB cable, that then connects to my Hugo DAC.
Overall, my QNAP/HDStation/MC is only a server, and does not play any files. Everything is streamed to my iPhone or iPad. Hope this gives you an idea of my setup.
