My laptop is attached to my NAD Direct Digital Integrated Amp C390DD.  There is a communication problem between these two devices which causes a loud crackling noise which has caused the amp to stop functioning once and had to be sent for repair.  However the noise continues.  How can this problem corrected?

Do system sounds play normally through your mac into your NAD?  What about other players like itunes, VLC, quicktime player etc?  Do they play ok, or do you hear the same crackling sounds?
