Driving the Golden Spike
« on: April 04, 2016, 02:28:08 pm »

When you tunnel through a mountain or build a transcontinental railroad, you hope both sides meet in the right place.

We've been working on device management from several sides for the last year.

1.  OneRemote, an Android app that can add categories, devices, and links.

2.  Engen, an application for Windows, Mac, and Linux to manage Z-Wave devices (Internet of Things).

3.  The JRiver Id, our DLNA device, which can serve or play media.

4.  A JRiver server where OneRemote can save device and menu configurations.

We've had an important breakthrough this week with OneRemote.  It can now discover devices by using SSDP.  It can then find their Presentation Page and connect to it with a browser.

As a result, it can discover the Id on a network, find its Presentation Page, and open it.  This means that there is a two way connection with the Id.  It can find WebRemote and use an MC library on the Id.

Screenshots:

If you click on the Search button in the upper right corner above, you get this list of network devices seen below.

If you then click on a single device, its Presentation Page is displayed.  The one below is from the JRiver Id.

Here's OneRemote:
http://www.jriver.com/4April2016/OneRemote.apk

You have to extract the apk file, then run it and allow installing an app from an unknown source.

Add a couple of categories.  Press and hold them to add a photo.

The Search button in the upper right corner uses SSDP to discover devices on your LAN.  MC with Media Network enabled, will show up as a device, for example.

We hope to add similar discovery for many other types of devices.  We think we can do Z-Wave devices like light bulbs and switches, for example.

New build:

Press and hold on any device in the discovery list allows saving it as a link button.

Closed until further notice.  Regular builds will be available as new threads on this board.  The first one is there now.
