OK, I know it has been said before but it bears repeating: who is the competition? It depends on how you use Media Center.
A few years ago I spent a couple of months ripping my DVD and BluRay collection and built a Kaleidescape type system based on Media Center 17, which was the first version that had acceptable media playback.
I am happy with the user interface, etc. What drives me crazy is trying to optimizing the video playback. I sometimes find that I have to change the settings depending on the media type (anime DVD rips are especially problematic). I love the sound quality from Media Center (except for the audio sync problems) but I don't understand why a freeware program like Potplayer plays all my files perfectly on its default settings whereas Media Center seems to require endless tweaking.
My suggestion is that Media Center should have a bullet proof default video setting that will play everything. Also, a wiki explaining what all MadVR options would be nice.
