Mac 1: OS 10.11.4    Downloaded MC 21.0.80   
Mac 2: OS 10.8.5      Downloaded MC 21.0.55 (21.0.80 apparently not supported)

Purchased license for Mac today.

Entered registration number on Mac 1. Works fine.

Then entered the same number on Mac 2. Doesn't work. It says the registration key is for a different version. But both are MC 21.


What am I doing wrong?

You need the most current version from the top of this board.  Thanks for your purchase.

Really new licenses for MC21 are actually a hybrid MC21 and MC22 license.  As such, you need a VERY recent build of MC in order to use those licenses.  I think this is supported from something like 21.0.77 .  

I'm pretty sure OS X 10.8 is supported on all recent builds of MC21.  You could try 21.0.83 from the top of this forum.  Or you could try 21.0.77 .

I have now downloaded MC 21.0.83 on both machines. No problem under Mac OS 10.11.4. The update from 21.0.80 went smoothly.

But, unfortunately, neither MC 21.0.80 nor 21.0.83 run on my second machine, under Mac OS 10.8.5. The only version of MC that runs is 21.0.55.

What do I have to do to get this working? Do I have to buy a second license for the older version? Is this my only option? MC is too good to not have it on my second machine.

No, it doesn't install properly. It doesn't open. 21.0.55 works. I haven't tried 21.0.77 yet.

I just found this in another thread:

Bad news is that .80 and .83 will not run properly when downloaded onto the desktop and installed in the Apps folder. New build replaces old build in Apps folder but on clicking on app to start (or on dock icon), the normal 'verifying' message displays but does not complete. In previous versions, it normally moves on to the dialogue box 'Do you wish to open the app downloaded from the internet etc? but it does not get to this now. The 'verifying box disappears and the MC icon bounces in the dock for two minutes then just 'not responds' and I have to force quit. I notice that when installing from within the program, I am not asked the question about downloading from the internet and this suggests another path is being followed or the permission is being granted from somewhere else.

This is exactly what's happening on my 10.8.5 machine.

I have now succeeded installing MC 21.0.80 from within MC, and the registration key works. So for now, everything is fine. I think the key to success is the updating from within MC, not via the .dmg file on the Desktop.

I'm glad you got that figured out.  That's kind of a strange issue.  I hope the developers get that fixed so it's easier next time.
