Media Center 9.1.230 beta available
« on: August 12, 2003, 06:49:44 am »

Please read VERY carefully. This is a BETA version of 9.1.  If you expect things to work, please download the latest 9.0 build from this thread:

http://www.musicex.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=MediaCenter;action=di splay;num=1054751628

but if you're patient and willing to help us work out some of the bugs, you can download 9.1 here:

ftp://ftp.jriver.com/pub/downloads/music/MediaCenter91230.exe

(backup your library before installing)

Please report any 9.1 problems in this thread.  Keep a list of problems and if they aren't fixed in the next build, please post the list again.

History:
1. Fixed: Add Smartlist and Add Playlist Group icons were switched around.
2. Fixed: Right-click menu was not always working.
3. Fixed: Album grouping was disabled.
4. Fixed: Smartlists were not working properly.

Just so you know, the way items / pages are selected in the Action Window is being reworked.  You may want to hold your ideas and suggestions about that area until the new system is released.

Thanks!

Kudo's on File Type info...deep file details ( ala MJ8 ) in MC is nice to have.

Question: Is seperate search and criteria boxes gone for good? (mentioned in the "New Look of 9.1.xxx" thread)

10-27

edit: Quick Search noted...not as handy as separates via B226

If you have 'playing now' in the action-window, then change to a playlist, and then change back to 'playing now', the list in the action-window is empty. If you close the action-window and open it again, the list is displayed correctly.

I know, the action window is a work in progress, but just wanted to mention it.

I know this is a work-in-progress but I'm curious about the progress. Will we be able to see the contents of a playlist and a CD burn queue or just an image as it is now? Thanks!

Is there a reason why I had to restart windows after installing this build?  The last step in the install process has always been the option to choose run installed program now.  Just curious.

PS Thanks for fixing Album Thumbnails!!

2. Fixed: Right-click menu was not always working.
3. Fixed: Album grouping was disabled.

That's what MC needed to be functional again. Now, I just can't thing in a couple of thing to have a releasable product:

Some little things:

-Locate on disk (external) does not work
-system info does not work

Some medium things:

-A correct way to handle action window auto resizing

Some big things:

-A dialog window to set visible columns (and its order)

I know I read this in an earlier version, but mine still does this:

On initial start-up of MC, playback "pauses" for nearly 30 seconds before starting, MC seems locked and thinking hard before playing a file. After initial start playback is quick and responsive. Closing MC/re-opening MC causes the "pause" to return again.

Both these work on my system.  Odd.

At the risk of requesting a "major" change, I second this motion.  It's often tedious and akward having to repetitiously right-click, traverse, and then select.  With that said, I'd just be happy with a dialog box for selection only; being able to specify left-to-right order would be an unnecessary (but nice) bonus.

1)Dragging the scroll bar in the options menu changes the appearance of the scroll bar from MC skin style to the default windows style and back, making scrolling very jerky.  This bug has been there forever!

2)When one uses ASIO for streaming web content, switching stations causes stuttering and occasionally crashes.

3) MC downloads *.rm files instead of streaming them
This is an old bug.

3) I also liked selective text for tool bar buttons.

Cross Fade is no longer working.  Set to cross fade smooth at full 16 secs but the new track does not kick in until the old one has completely faded out.  This problem appeared from v228.

If you don't let the old track fade out but double click to play a new one then you do get some cross fade.

I noticed a minor issue with the Action Window's Playing Now if Playing Now is also shown in the main window.  If you happen to change the order in the Action Window, it doesn't automatically update the main Playing Now list.  The reverse does work, however.

FIXED: MC generated error messages upon closing

Nice work . . . .  maybe just my imagination, but everything seems a bit slicker, smoother, quicker
