Converting multiple tracks into a single track
« on: June 11, 2016, 09:00:38 am »

Greetings!

Is there a way to take albums already burned onto your hard drive and convert multiple tracks into a single track?

Thanks!

Audacity is a free program that can do that rather well.

With that said you could "link tracks" in Media Center and the tracks will always play in sequence when you add them to playlists or shuffle.

Tools>Library Tools>Link Tracks.

cuetools is also free, and a simpler way to do it (it's the only purpose of the program).  i use it to split single file images into tracks

For some formats of video files, MKVToolNix allows you to split or join movies together.  I know it works for MKVs and for MP4s.

Tried CUEtools and like it.  Thanks!

Also, thanks for the tip on linking tracks.  I don't do a lot of shuffling due to having a lot of multi-movement works in my library, but this gives me another listening option.

Brian.

I tried this and it looks like it wants to work because the output file is large enough but when I watched the newly created video, I can only view the first file.  I poked around for documentation but it almost all deal with command line stuff I don't need.  How do you join your video files?

So it's not exactly obvious at first how MKVToolNix expects you to do this.  ...and the first time I tried to join a video, I got the same results you did!  Doh.

Here's the basic procedure:

In the input section add the first video file.
Now, right click on that video file and select Append files.  In the dialog, select the next file(s).
Once you've got your files stacked up, start muxing and it should join them all together.
