Hi,
Doest MC read the .mp4 video format?
It seems no.

^ Yes, MC21 reads MP4 videos.  I have tested with quite a few of them.  In fact, MC21's CODEC handling is pretty exceptional.  The only thing I've found that it doesn't like are some older MOV files. ...and a few oddball things here and there, like video 240p video taken with a very very old consumer digital camera.

Normal MP4 with H.264 video is no problem at all.

If you have a video file or two that it won't read, you should find out what codecs it uses internally.

When you say it doesn't read them:  Do they import?  Do you see them in the library?

Try to play them with an external player like VLC.  Then open VLC's info window and it will show you the audio and video streams and the CODECs.

Do you maybe have video support turned off in MC?  Or has MC maybe imported these files accidentally as Data instead of video?  That happens on my system every now and then.

@kurushi: are you trying to open the files from outside of media center?  If so, you may be seeing the same bug I'm seeing on the Linux side  in the second part of this post: https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=105456.msg734703#msg734703

If you are seeing the same problem I am, they should play fine once they're imported.
