Moved from Windows to Mac. Speakers don’t work now.
« on: June 17, 2016, 11:27:22 am »

Hi;
I re-upped with JRiver and bought the Mac version for a new iMac.
When I select my external speaker system (Devialet) I don’t hear the music through them.  This is a new computer and version of JRiver Media Center 21.
Did I miss a setting somewhere?  The speakers I am using don’t show any type when I display speakers in System Preferences.
Funny thing is that when I play music in iTunes I can play the external speakers.
Thanks for your suggestions.

Configure MC to use the output of your Mac that you have connected to the Devialets.  I see the Devialet has many ways of connecting to it.  How are you connected?

Go to:  Tools > Options > Audio > Audio Device

Choose the audio device that's connected to the Devialets there.

Hi bigentry;
I have already selected the Devialet Air (Core Audio) option and get no sound.
Thanks!

"Devialet Air" sounds like AirPlay.  AirPlay is not supported by MC.  This is why I asked you how you are connected to the Devialet.  It has many different ways of sending audio to it.  I don't own one, nor have I used one, so I'm not an authority; I just read the spec sheet and saw a lot of options.

You're best off with some kind of hard wired connection.  If you can't do that for some reason (or you aren't willing to), then DLNA via wifi is probably the next best option.  Bluetooth would be the worst option, but should work.  As I said before, AirPlay doesn't work with Media Center.

Hi big;
Devialet uses their own wireless code that is transmitted over wifi.
Guess I am still wondering why it can work through iTunes?  Getting to be time to contact Dev.
Thanks!

Hi big;
I got my Devialet working.
In the JRiver setup for the device there is an option for “integer input’.  Enabling that made things work.
I don’t know what it is but am glad I am getting sound now.

I'm unclear on how MC is talking to the Divialets, but that's ok.  I'm happy that your setup is now working for you with MC.  :)

Enjoy,

Brian.
