problem with cassette recording to mp3
« on: February 05, 2003, 07:14:26 pm »

I have been using MJ8 successfully for recording mp3s from cassettes for some time.  A couple of days ago, the left and right sound bars in the sound recorder stopped registering and any mp3s I produced were silent.  I made no changes in program configuration that I was aware of.  Uninstalling and reinstalling the program didn't help.  I am still able to record through the sound card in other programs but not MJ8.  Any suggestions as to what might be the problem

Thanks, Norm

Weird! All I can think of is to check the volume setting in the recorder settings page, make sure it's not set to zero or something. Check the "Devices" list to see if there is more than one sound device on your computer and maybe the wrong one got selected. Check that the recording source is set to "line-in".

...and/or right click on the speaker icon in the system tray on the taskbar. Select Open Volume Controls and check out Line-In. This slider may override any in MJ, since it's a system control.
