If you are importing from C: in the import dialog, MC will import it's own thumbnails and create thumbnails for the thumbnails.

Bug (or feature request)
« Reply #51 on: August 02, 2003, 07:42:53 am »

(This has been an 'issue' for quite a while now)

When I activate the TV time shifting function, the picture is flipped horizontally. In the TV settings there is the embyro of an option to flip the video horizontally, but it is not enabled...

Can something be done about this?

thanks

Disk writer output is broken.

Tried doing it on a .avi - divx file and it just plays the audio - doesn't write it.

A problem that has been for a while too:

Just when finishing synchronization to a handheld device (Nex II), MC crashes.

When in The Panes selecting a "Genre" and then in the search box "Limit: 200 tracks", it doesn't show 200 tracks but less.

It only shows 200 tracks if I choose "all" for Genre.

Wierd behaviour with visible columns / sorting:

If I select Save This View - For All Locations it saves the view OK but if I subsequently click on a view scheme in the tree that's set up to sort by rating this sorting is applied to any other view schemes that are part of a group e.g.

View scheme A
VS B
VS C (sorted by rating)
Group A
            VS 1
            VS 2

i.e. As soon as I click on VS C, VS 1 & VS 2  take on the sorting of VS C instead of the sorting that was previously saved.  This happens every time.

If I have File Properties open and displaying only columns visible in current view, then add or remove columns from that view, File Properties doesn't update until I click on a different view and then come back. Even if I close File Properties and reopen it.

Two new (at least to me) bugs:

B10. Full screen display [Track Info, Visualizations, etc] does not quite go full screen. Some of the frame borders (or something) are still showing. This is quite obvious if you make a completely black track info full screen. Hairstyle does not seem to have this problem.

B11. F2 (and maybe other things?) doesn't work on the second of a two monitor system. Sounds weird, but that's the best I can narrow it down to. If MC is on monitor 1, hitting F2 will put me in edit mode, on monitor 2, F2 is ignored. F2 works normally in other applications.

Haven't burned a CD in a couple of MC revisions - so can't say this started with 9.1.226 or a recent previous addition.
When trying to burn a CD I now get:
"The following files do not have rights to be burned.  . " then a list of files and request to remove those files.

All the files listed are WMA files

These are files from my CD collection that were ripped years ago and many have been burned several times.  I'm not aware of any changes I've made or new downloads for Windows Media Player.

Help!

Actually, more info on my B10, Track Info seems to be the only one showing borders (or padding, or margins, or whatever you wanna call 'em). This probably has something to do with the browser renderer or something.

It is quite annoying (to me) because I use Track Info when playing music, as it uses no CPU. I display it full screen on my TV while I work on my normal monitor. Anyway, I have a black background Track Info (makes good sense for the TV) and it shows white on the top and sides. I've tried HTML CSS margins of 0, padding 0, (and many other tricks I could think of) with no luck.

I just ran Internet Explorer full screen with my Track Info page and it displayed perfectly (except for that vertical scrollbar IE always loves to display).

Hi
I think this is an old problem, but still there.
Visualizations of mp3 and .wav files work fine when the files are played directly by Media Center.
When files are played using Media Server, visualizations still work fine for .mp3 files, but don't work for .wav files.

The tool window that pops up titled Please Wait... while saving tag changes (such as adding cover art, track numbers, etc.) always displays on the first monitor. It should display on the same monitor as where the change took place.

This is kind of slight Tagging Mode tweak request.

Having the entire list of possible values in Tagging Mode is great. It does have one drawback, though, and it's one we knew we'd wind up with, even while we were requesting the entire list. And that is the list can get quite long at times. To combat this, I have one request.

Can the list of possible values act like the one in File Properties? Where the list starts off with the values already being used by the current view, then a seperator of some sort, and then the entire list? I think this would be a good balance between having the entire list, and having a manageable list for those times you're tagging a bunch of files that have a lot in common.

And also a plea to allow navigation in Tagging Mode. I thought that maybe adding a Grouped People pane would be a good way to allow me to quickly find the person I wanted to add to the list of People. Maybe only allow navigation in the case of grouped panes. Since tagging does nothing in the grouped panes, then it would be nice if they still acted like filters on the taggable panes.

i have a comment on the tagging mode..
make it optional to switch between quick tag icon and the checkbox. coz checkboxes does not appear in some skins and dont have any option on the main.xml to change its colors to adjust it!..

thanks...

adding new columns is not updating the list available in the properties pane - closing and opening properties isn't updating it either :(

Me again:

  • Bug: Long WMA Tags: I know that this was reported as fixed a few builds ago, but I have some WMA files which I've tagged extensively (notes, and everything else that came with the CD!) and whenever I do an import and this dir is scanned, MC vanishes into nothingness. I can send a file but it will have to be in about 24 hours time :(

Thanks:)

Shortcuts and pressing return e.g. when editing tags don't work when more than one MC task runs (Analyze Audio, Encoding, ...)

I noticed this also in prior versions.

BUG: It's been ages since I tried 9.1 last, but the thing that annoyed me most then is still there: When I pull the mouse down to the bottom of the screen with MC in regular MegaMe mode (not Hairstyle or full screen), my Windows taskbar does not make an apperance. I'll have to use the Windows key or ctrl+escape to find it. Shouldn't that have been fixed a long time ago?

I don't normally auto hide the taskbar but I've just tried this and think I've found another workaround you could try until/if MC introduce a fix.

Because MC is rounded off in the corners if I position the mouse in the extreme bottom left or right and left click the task bar appears.

JLee, if there's another window behind MC it will activate that window, not show the  task bar.

Media Server crashes after viewing options

Media Server crashes after viewing server options in .226.  If you open options... change nothing... click ok... it then displays the "Media Server will disconnect/reconnect" message... you click ok on that and it crashes...

B12. Detaching the Playing Now area to it's own window causes MC's main screen to minimize.

B13. Properties toolbar icon is disabled if you click on the empty area under the main list. Since the X on the properties window is now gone, this leaves you with no way to close the properties window without selecting some item.

B14. Properties window will show properties from the last selection set while in a completely unrelated area (Wed Media, TV, Start, etc.).

Hmm... Well, okay. It is a bit annoying when using multi-monitors, as the Playing Now window pops up over on the TV, as it should, and then MC goes away on the computer monitor. Not a huge deal, but a bit surprising and requires an extra click to bring back MC, which I do nearly always in this situation.

I'm trying to think of a situation when one would want to detach the playing now window and have MC go away... But, I guess it's not an overly big deal.

Sorry folks, but I probably missed a train.
How can you detach the "Playing Now" Window ? I did not seem to find any icon or menu entry in 9.1.226 to do that.

Thanks,

When I start MediaCenter, it comes up in MediaLibrary.

The top two tracks are not shown, I must scroll up to see them.

Once in MediaCenter, returning to MediaLibrary always starts at the first track, just not when opening the program.

Weird....

Bugs:
1. If you listen to any of the streaming MP3 samples from eMusic.com (really .m3u when you click on the sample), MC goes into a hard-loop at the end of playing the sample and requires a 'killing' from the Task Manager.  BTW - I have Continuous option enabled.

Bug:
MC silently duplicates read-only files in order to add tags, renaming the originals to "<NAME> (1)".

I set all my pictures Read-Only once they're copied to my harddrive, so I don't accidentally edit the originals.

Last night I decided to try out the quick-tag feature on my pictures and today I noticed that all the images I'd tagged have been silently duplicated!  The original read-only versions have been copied to <NAME> (1).jpg and <NAME>.jpg is now a read-write copy with the tags I added stored in the comment field.

I'm not sure I'm too keen on the idea of duplicating GIGs of pictures to add tags...

I don't mind adding the tags to the originals (side-stepping the read-only) as long as they're left as read-only files once the tagging is done and the image data is not touched.  It's just to easy to hit Save, instead of Save As in Photoshop...

I've been downloading most of the 9.1 betas and had my first major problem.

When I try to play a song, any song, Media center pauses for a second and then reports that it must shut down.

I have tried a system restart, same problem.

I also reinstalled 9.1.225 so I could at least play something and the same problem is now happening with that build as well.

Problem does not happen with pictures.

I would try uninstalling again, then manually deleting the J River folder and fire up regedit (or a good regcleaner) to clean the registry of any MC entries. I managed to come up with the following list of keys/subkeys, not sure if it's 100% but should sufficiently remove the core entries.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\JRiver\BuyButton\2.0

After that, reboot, reinstall and reimport your library.

If that won't fix it, then you have a rogue file somewhere and someone with more in-depth knowledge of MC will need to advise from there :)

Hope it helps.

It appears that the crash importing media files only appens with Wma Audio Files. This files were encoded using the "old" V8

MC still takes several minutes to do anything CD-related. I insert a CD, select it from the list of drives and it takes several minutes to display the tracks. Meanwhile, it says, "Gathering Information and updating view..."

Additionally, it takes several minutes to start ripping a CD. I click rip and tell it to start. Ripping starts five minutes later.

This has been a problem since MC 9 beta was released. I never had this problem in MJ 8.

I've tested this on two computers.

Toshiba Satellite 1955-s801 notebook computer.

When pasting coverart on a Video file where Artist is empty (I don't use Artist for Videos), the file is allways saved as UNKNOWN.jpg

Are you on dialup access or do you have broadband? MC might be set to auto d/l track information and is trying to access YADB with no connection, or a very slow connection. Are the tracks displaying with song names intact, or just 'track01', etc. Try posting your system info available directly from the HELP menu. It provides useful info.

Also, while trying to duplicate on my system I noticed another bug related to CD playing; When a music CD is inserted with Audio CD action selected to 'play', regardless of auto or prompted, MC will instead play whatever is currently selected in panes view, replacing any current playlist. Not sure is someone found this one or not, so I added this to my bug list for next bug list revision. (this thread gets looooong, hard to keep up :))

Wasn't able to duplicate this myself. Can anyone else?

As you can see at another place here, no. Not tonight or tomorrow. Big change ahead. :-/

Can you give as your beta4 before? That would be a nice present ;)

Major bug

I can no longer rip using an external encoder. I have LAME installed in C:\Program Files\LAME\3.90.2 and it is correctly pointed to in MC. I set the parameters to %IN %OUT ---alt-preset standard. The track is ripped OK but the external encoder fails to launch. This was working when I last ripped a CD on 28th July using 9.1.222.

Here are my system specs:
