Slow response to album selection
« on: July 17, 2016, 02:36:52 pm »

The first album selection starts immediately but it can take up to 5 minutes for the ID to start playing the second album after selection. Any way to make this a little quicker?

What are the details of your setup? Where is the media? Are you pushing it to the Id, Pulling it from the Id?

ID 202 NUC5CPYH
AT&T Uverse wireless network
fiber optic connection from ID to Peachtree DAC it, then connected to preamplifier

Files are stored on ID and played to same ID controlled by Gizmo on a Google Nexus 7 or by Gizmo on a Google phone. I would like play bit perfect to the DAC.
Selection of song to song on same album is quick to change but selection of a new album is slow to change.

First attempt, I can't duplicate this.
If I use a playlist of a couple of albums, it just transitions to the next smoothly. Is that what you are doing?
What is the format of the music? I'm just using 44.1k flac files...

I am using 44.1k flac files. No playlist. I am listening to an album, hit stop or not, make another album selection and it takes several minutes to change to the new selection.

Hmmm, no luck duplicating.
Is the Id on a wired or wireless network?

I am on a wireless network. When is the next update for the ID version of MC?

Likely next week.

Perhaps your wireless connection is not working so well..
Could you connect it wired as a test to isolate the problem?

My computer is turned off. The wireless connection is from the cell phone to the Id. MC and the library are both on the Id.

I had a problem getting started and the music directory was not on the Id. I executed a repair that created the directories but may have caused other problems. I should either execute a complete Id MC repair or wait for an update to see if that works. Best regards

Does the Id have internet connectivity?

Yes, the Id has internet connectivity. I wireless transfer files from the computer to the Id and appears to be OK. Also, selection of song to song on the same album seems ok as well.

Let's try a few things.

Under the Audio options, turn off "Play files from memory" if it's on.
Also in there under "Track Change" use these settings:
Switch Tracks: Gapless
Uncheck "Do not play silence"
Check "Use gapless for sequential album tracks"

Make sure "Use alternate mode settings" is unchecked.

Prebuffering set to 6 seconds (the default).

Finally, if this doesn't solve the isssue, can you put your ear to the Id and listen to the Id hard drive and see if it has to spin up before it plays the next album?

The only one incorrect was Check "Use gapless for sequential album track" and checked did not fix the problem. And, there is a time gap when selecting song to song on the same album. I  previously misremembered.

Also, the Id did not spin up when the music started. There was no change to the sound from the Id.

I'm having a hard time figuring out what this could be. I'm going to PM you...
