Translation topic
« on: July 19, 2016, 08:28:39 am »

New version means new translation topic.

In Media Network, the word Time is used twice in Activity log list. But only one translation is available when the word has two meanings (by clock and period of time). You should add another Time for translation and qualifiers.

Time
-->
Time^^Clock^^
and
Time^^Lenght^^

Another editing (please add punctuation form for ALL translations):

Why didn't you include the ending bracket (or parenthese for the US) in the following translation:

DLNA Renderer (allow other DLNA devices to control
-->
DLNA Renderer (allow other DLNA devices to control)

DLNA Renderer (allow other DLNA devices to control
-->
DLNA Renderer (allow other DLNA devices to control)

Because it adds a string from the program (GetProductInfo()->GetInternalName(false)) and then the closing quote.

It's sure marked for translation:
_I("Show a link checkbox")

And if the language file has been run through our tool recently, it's there.

I can find this sentence in the german folder but not in the french (or italian, or japanese..) folder. So I will translate it later.

In Manage Library Fields, Search cannot be translated as a noun because it is also used as a verb elsewhere. You should add qualifiers:

Search

Same with the word Channel. Channel is translated in french by Canal when we talk about computing, by Chaine when we talk about TV, and by Bande when we talk about radio. But the translation file offers only one meaning for all. Please add qualifiers:

You're sure right.

I'll switch it for the next build.

Then we just have to hope that everything keeps working even once it's translated!

What do you mean that it's the wrong font and wrong background color?  It looks perfect to me.

Well, I think the TV interface should be similar to the other interfaces:
- white background, not grey
- smaller font size
- smaller logo

Just my 2 cents.

I'm not adding qualifiers to complicate the translation, but today I still cannot translate some words because one meaning will always stay wrong.

In DSP Studio, didn't you forget the trademark after JRSS? because you write JRSS™ mixing but JRSS Subwoofer.

And could you add a translation for 48.000 Hz because we deleted the period in french and in most countries worldwide.

Found a bug/crach:

1. Open DSP Studio
2. Click Manage Plug-ins > Add DirectShow DSP Filter
3. Select Gargle or Echo
4. Click Manage Plug-ins > Uninstall > Gargle or Echo
5. Confirm Action > Yes
6. JRiver Media Center stops working

Something is wrong with the plug-ins uninstalling process.

When I highlight an album, many informations appear with no translation:
Plays: 0 / file
Played
Rating: no files rated
Most Played: no files played

And I don't understand the meaning of number of files played / file. Shouldn't be number of files played / total files?

Last but not least File should use the plural when the number of files are > 1.

Still not translatable.

Could I ask one question:

I uninstall TiVo Server plug-in, but now I'm unable to install it again from the JRiver webpage. Can't find it in the list. Does JRiver support this? If not, why is TiVo Server installed by default?

By the way, you really should work to make a better plug-ins webpage. The webpage is outdated.

I found some typo, maybe

Unnkown Filter -> Unknown Filter

Framerate -> Frame Rate or Frame rate?

Media Center receiver -> Media Center Receiver (capitalized?)

about Audio->Advanced->Configure input plug-in, imho title for each configuration looks little bit inconsistent for me
for example,
WAV & AIFF -> WAV & AIFF plugin configuration
MPC -> Settings
FLAC -> Options

In DSP Studio > Equalizer, the button Reset cannot be read in many languages because the translations are too long and the box too small.

Could you remove them and add only one button Reset all?

In Help > New / Improved This Version... should be a link to a topic for MC22, not MC21. Could you also rename the link in the program New Features (it can be confusing if the link and the topic don't have the same title!). Better practice is to dedicate a webpage in the wiki with a link inside the media center.

This sign isn't used outside North American (seriously, why can't americans write number like everybody else? :) )

In the same window (Modify Search > Modify Results), you should change Add New Modifier to Add New Modification to be more consistent with the list element No modification.

Store Name and Number Of Tracks cannot be translated.

By the way, what is the meaning for the Editor field? Is it for music, book, film? Or are we talking about a program for editing?

JRiver MC often ignores the translations available:
- When you delete a smartlist that is translated, the english name is used in the popup.
- When you modify a rule, their elements are shown in english, even if they have been translated in the list.

That is something I really hate because translation has to be applied everywhere not only in selection.

Also I can't translate the rules choosen when you reset PlayDoctor settings to default (Christmas, Holiday, Child...). So the default rules are not relevant except for english users.

I just find that the confirmation windows when deleting multiple smartlists/playlists doesn't know the plural form. It's confusing!

In the new menu View Extra > View..., a qualifier should be added because View can be a noun or a verb.

View
-->
View^^Verb^^
and
View^^Noun^^

Funny as this is exactly what is writen in the beginning of translation file.
Quote
If a phrase contains a qualifier like 'View^^Verb^^' it indicates that 'View' has multiple meanings ('View' is used a noun and a verb in the player) and the qualifier helps distinguish them.
The qualifier is removed during translation and it is ignored if the phrase doesn't have multiple meanings.
