Currently the MCWS command "Files/Current" only returns which Files are currently selected.
However when you are in Theater Mode it might be that the current selection (where the selection rectangle is) is no file but a (sub)view or even a command.
So what I'd like to see is a MCWS command (either as extension of Files/Current or a new command) that allows to identify the type of what is currently selected in the current view. This might be a single item (especially in Theater View with its selection rectangle) or multiple items (other views).
The returned type identifier for the selected item(s) could be (not complete) :
- video
- audio
- image
- view
- command
etc.
This new command would help to contextually identify which action could / should be taken for the current selection when using external scripts that control MC.
Along with the type identifier the new command could also return the exact displayed name for further identification (this is useful if the selected item is a command or a view e.g.).
