OK ,i know it is to test if the burn will be ok.

It is sure at 100% ?

If i get a good writing session ,i'am SURE to get a good burn session ?

Of cause kepping the same session and settings.

It is for both burn? Data and RedBook?

Z - I think, but I'm not positive, that the test burn is simply to simulate burning a CD to see if your system is up to it and the data can be burnt correctly.

Not all CDRW's can support simulated burning - it just runs the burn as if it was burning it but tells the drive to not actually burn but to pretend it was and mime it so to speak :)

Basically, test mode does everything real mode does except turn on the laser. Actually, there's one difference: the close session command is not executed in test mode since it would just return an error. So it's possible you may get a clean test mode burn, but then get a close session error during a real burn. Not too likely though.

My question ,because i had a strange 'problem'
At the end of the rip- data/mp3 cd the MC window stayed for ages.I had to reboot
At the same time  , with the window still open saying 'Finishing..' - i do not remember the words- i was able to play the burn cd in MC......
I did a second one[ using the same 'burn window' ,selection ]with 'test writtng' set ,got a good result , burned another cd without any problem.
Both of them play the same in MC and others jukebox and mp3Cd players.

Beside it ,JohnT ,let me tell you that i was So-So about using MJ  or MC  to burn cds.
The new 'tag' feature is the only raison i downloaded MC 9,1.
And ,sure ,even if ,as you know,i'am quite lost in MC9,1.
I would never ever be back to MC9 , because of this new feature.
Now ,just give us a burn cd 'on the fly' - no need to convert to wav before.
I would be able to delete Nero from my computer..
The less i have on my computer ,the less i need to learn how to use it....
So ,five starts to MC burn , as to MC recorder

And ,YES ,i know i'am very heavy concerning praising [ is this english?]Recorder.. but it is so much a GOOD  piece of ANY MC or MJ

Z - I agree that this feature totally gives MC it's edge.

I always used Nero but nowdays I try to use MC purely because of this feature - the instant playlist wiping still bugs the hell out of me and is one reason I still like Nero along with the fact it is always rock solid and I sometimes have problems burning with MC but on the whole - this feature has really really really made MC's burning engine THE ONE TO USE. :)

Nila.
I'am not ,like you a very 'sharp' user ..--i'am feed up with POWERFULL USER-- so ,let use another expression.
And do not use most of Nero features.
In fact i had for long any 'Gold/no fee' EasyCd Creator number.
But EasyCdCreator is not for people with A to I drive.
It just cannot see your cdr and cd writter.
For my  basic as they are needs ,i do think i will use only MC.

But ,you are right ,i mean you are really right; MJ ,MC is not rock solid.
I would say that MJ- from 7 - or MC are very moody softwares.
Like your girl/boy friend smilling making you good coffe one morning and poor cheap tea the next morning.

To me ,not understanding much ,it looks like a very strange behaviour

Dont put yourself down - I dont think anyone uses most of Nero's features - there are too many. The point of so many features is that whatever features YOU want, will be there and everyone wants it to do different things with.

I've never created a video cd in my life and although I'm sure it works great as Nero is rock solid - I dont have any need to.

EZCD is notorious for its problems - some people it works great for and for those people I'm happy for them. For alot of others though it just = bugs, hassles and head aches.

MC's burning engine just needs us to give feedback on bugs when they occur and how they are occuring so that John knows of the problem and what is causing it and can fix it. Without feedback from us he would never be aware of the problem or what is causing it so not realise anything needs to be fixed.

Everytime you get a problem burning just post your system info and what you were doing in the build thread so he can hit it  ;D
