--- Quote from: blgentry on August 09, 2016, 12:20:05 pm ---I think bob is suggesting that the filename on disk might be too long or otherwise "strange" which is confusing MC and making it unable to read the metadata from the file. But I'm just guessing.
I also think he wants you to go into MC's view for these files and find the column labeled "filename". If it's not there, right click on the column headers and select it. Then tell bob what you see there.
Brian.

Yes, thanks for the clarification Brian!
elvanor:
The filename is perfectly normal, besides, this happens with all my oggs (about 1000...)
In MC view filename is "/home/elvanor/music/Metal/Primal Fear/2001 - Nuclear Fire/01 - Angel In Black.ogg"
bob:
Hmmm, doesn't make any sense to me.
Are they read-only for that user? (even though that should make no difference).
elvanor:
It does not make any sense to me either, I am going crazy with this, especially because it happens on 2 different computers!!
They are not read only for the user:

One thing I can try is to import ONLY this folder, not the whole collection with 15000+ files, and see what happens. If it still fails, I could give you temporary SSH access to my machine... or how could we debug further? are there logs somewhere?
bob:
Turn on logging in Help->Logging
First, pick an ogg album, select it's tracks (control-A to select all) then Right-Click Delete. In the following dialog take the default option which is Remove from the media library.
This removes an album so we can try to import it again.
Next, create a smartlist of deleted/bad database entries:
New Smartlist
Name it deleted/bad
Set the media type to audio and empty
Modify results: Limit database to Deleted and Bad
Hit OK.
When it displays the deleted/bad files (if there are any) hit control-A (to select all) then Right-Click Delete. In the following dialog take the default option which is Remove from the media library (not delete from disc).
Repeat the about steps if necessary.
This removes the old entries for the deleted albums.
Turn on Logging (Help->Logging)
Use Tools->Import->Import a single folder to re-import the ogg album you removed.
Send the log file. You can try the email function from within Help->Logging or simply grab the log from:
~/.jriver/Media\ Center\ 22/Log.txt
email it to bob (at) jriver (dot) com.
Thanks.
