The short question/info..
(I can provide a lot more if needed)

JRiver runs fine for audio, decided to check out the server function and then import all my movies into it.
I pointed to my movie folder, and had JRiver import, but noticed many movies missing after/not imported.

All the AVI and MK4 Movies came into video/movies fine.

All the MP4 movies went into audio in a folder labeled unassigned.

To play the movies I have to go into tools/options/file types, go to audio an set playback to directshow video.
So they will play both video and audio from the file.

But I can't get them to go in as video files. I've tried extensively, searched google and here, I can't figure it out.

What I want is those MP4 movies to show up in the video section under movies, with the rest of them but I can't.
Do I have to re-import somehow correctly, can I move them over?

I'm usually pretty good at these things an can figure it out, but this has me stumped.. Any and all help appreciated!
Thanks,
.

What is the full version of MC that you are running, please.

There may be a newer one at the top of this board.

I'm running 21.. (figured I'm new enough)

But do I have to upgrade to move/make the files go where they need to be?

Thanks..

First, when you do an import, notice that it asks what file types you want to import.  Audio and Video are selectable and they have individual file types underneath them.  You can click a few times to get a solid check mark to select all of Video or Audio.  I would try to select all video types when importing from a video folder.

Second, once files are imported, part of what determines where they show is the [Media Type] and [Media Sub Type].  You can edit these values.  Just highlight one or more of your mistakenly imported MP4s, then:

Edit > Tag .  This opens the tagging window on the left.  Use the gear icon at the upper left to display more fields.  Look for Media Type and Media Sub Type.  Now you can edit those to be Video and Movie respectively.  Go to your video view and you should now see those files.  You may have to press refresh.

Hopefully that gets you started in the right direction.

Brian.

OH MAN!
THANK YOU!

I didn't know about the "expanded/more fields" in the tagging. (wow whole bunch more there, nice)

Went in, highlighted them all, changed um to video, then movie, now they are where there suppose to be!

Sweet!
When I imported I had toggled only video, audio was off, so not sure why they imported as audio, but hey all is good now and I know how to fix it in the future.

You Da Man! I owe yu a beer!
