Jump on Stop Option Required!
« on: August 01, 2003, 04:42:19 am »

Hi  J River,

I find myself often scanning through the image thumbnails, when I want to see an image full scale. As there is no image preview feature, the only way is to click play.

The unfortunate thing is that after the image has been displayed, Playing Now displays the MC9 logo and I have to find my way back to where I had selected the image I wanted to see. This is rather cumbersome. It may be right for music, but in this case I would like that MC9 remembers where I did my selection and would return there. I think it was like that in MJ8 or early MC9.0

So, either there  is a way to set it that I don't know yet, or it should be media type dependent or there should be an option Jump on Stop similar to the Jump on Play option, where I can set what should happend at the end of the playing such as:
  • Do nothing!
  • Return to previous selection
  • Any other possibilities

If I play a thumbnail, it jumps to full screen and, if the slide show is on, advances to the next image in a few seconds.

There are some settings you could explore in "general" options.

Also, try hitting enter or double clicking to play.  To return, double click or hit esc.

Hi Jaguu,

Why don't you use the Image section in the properties pane as a preview window ?

What I often do to explore/tag my photos is to expand the properties pane in image mode so that it takes about 3/4 of the screen and reduce the list view (in thumbnails mode) to 1 or 2 columns of thumbnails. This way I can scroll through the thumbnails and simultaneously have a large size preview of my images (on the left) while using the pane on top to tag them.

Jaguu,

Thinking about it there's another trick you can try.

First set the Options/General/"Jump On play" to "None"
Then play one image (any one) to get access to the display window and externalize its window by clicking on the second bottom-right icon (next to the full screen icon).
This way you will have 2 windows one for the display of your images (you can use zoom and scroll) and the other (MC) for scrolling among your thumbnails. Dbl clicking on any thumbnail will show it full size in the display window while leaving the focus in the library since you set the option above to "None".

MC is full of ressources...

Hope this helps.

Bonne soirée,

Christian

Or you could click the Back button after stopping playback. That'll take you right back to where you were before.

Thanks everybody for the hints. The back button is an easy one. Unfortunately I must have removed it from the toolbar at some time in the past. On the keyboard I also found the Backspace key having the same function as the back button.

One learns everyday about MC9!

The back button is on the left hand side of the location bar.
