Cover art questions
« on: July 30, 2003, 05:06:07 pm »

I have lots of albums on my harddrives where the album cover already exists (downloaded with gotcha covered).
MC seem to ignore these completly?

Is there a setting somewhere where I can prioritize existing covers?

When downloading covers with MC, is there a way to store the image in the actual album directory instead of the central cover art dir.
Are you storing them there for speed when searching by images??

Album covers through media server does not seem to work unless you have covers stored in the album dir(form other post), which I cannot figure out how to do ...

It's like the chicken and the egg :)

Also.. is the media server communication bi-directional?
If I load a cover on one of the client, I want it to be updated on the server.

MC my not will not find the Cover Art If

1. It is not in the Cover Art Dir
2. The Tags Artist Name And Album Name do not match the cover art file name

or is located in the Album dir (and i do not do that)

Ok, so for every song you play, MC looks at the tags, then gets the cover art from the cover art dir?

If you have the image in the album dir, does it have to have a specific name for MC to find it?
What happens if there are multiple images (front and back page of the album).

If I may be as bold and ask for a feature request :)
An option you can turn on, that will copy the cover art that MC has download to the album dir as well.

Yes i think it is Cover.jpg or Image.jpg (i am not sure since i do not use this).

it would be nice if the Images could be FrontCover.jpg  BackCover.jpg that if found in the Album folder MC9 would find it. but MC9 does not support more than one image per album

Ok,

For me to have covers displayed when using media server, I need an image called cover.jpg in each album directory?

Will test this!

Just tested, and it does not work with cover.jpg in the album dir. No cover is displayed on the clients.

Should this be added to the bug list or the feature request list?

If a directory has a single jpg with any name, MC will find it.  If there are multiple jpg files, they need to be named the same as the album.

Well I got it to work on the local MC installation.
However, if you use Media Server, the cover from the album dir is not transferred to the clients when "streaming" the data.

I'm currently running 9.0.180, but will install the latest beta again tomorrow, to test further.
