Problem with upsampling to DSD with 21?

I have two Intel I-5 based laptops. One around a 2011 model, and the other just a year old. I can upsample playback to DSD using Media Center 19. Not with 21. I get lots of drop outs. This is true for both machines. The older machine is a Windows 7 operating system. The newer one uses 10. Any suggestions?
