Mute button improvement
« on: October 11, 2016, 11:22:42 am »

When left-clicking the Mute button (left to the Volume control, in Standard and Display View - Mini View behaves differently), a Volume pop-up menu appears. Since this very same menu also appears with a right-click, wouldn't it be better for the left-click to Mute directly while reserving the right-click for the menu?

Thanks

I think the reason for the menu is that we want people to find the different volume modes, volume options, etc.

But the menu would still be available with a right-click. You could always assign Mute to the right-click and the Menu to the left, but that is not very intuitive. I'm just looking for a single-click mute, which is I think what most would expect from a Mute button.

Couldn't you just use Ctrl+M to mute?

Well yes, but the mouse can be quicker on many occasions. It just seems a waste to have the same use for both buttons, especially when for this particular function a pop-up menu is not what a user would expect with a mouse-click.

Strangely enough, on MC22 for Mac, a right click anywhere on the volume slider mutes the audio.  However a right *or* left click on the volume icon (at the far left of the volume slider) shows the menu.

So a single right click, for me, does do mute.

Brian.

Thanks Brian, this happens on Windows too - didn't know about it. I still feel it's a bit quirky and needs to be changed in a more intuitive way, but this right-click is a good workaround for me.
