My summer vacation
« on: July 27, 2003, 05:25:23 pm »

Anyone else who has pictures this ridiculous, please feel free to post.

I spent the weekend driving.  Friday, Saturday, Sunday.  1200 miles.  A lot of territory.

Friday night was my highschool's 40th reunion.  Lincoln, Nebraska, U.S. of A.

A lot of aging "boomers" were feeling their oats, acting like they had just got the keys to the family car.  Of course, I was discrete as usual.

I spent Saturday and Sunday in the sandhills (north central Nebraska):

In the second series, there are several pictures of a bird who had flown from her nest because I was so near it, and a picture of her two chicks trying to look like rocks and doing a good job of it.

There are also a few of a rodeo in Burwell, Nebraska.  It was about 100 degrees.

Sony have an advert in the UK right now.

"The punchline is 4.0 mega pixels"

"but no eye for a photograph."

I feel its appropriate.

I went to the Goodwood Festival of Speed a couple of weeks ago. For those that haven't heard of it, the festival features lots of racing cars and bikes from 1903 to the present day representing the world's of Formula 1, Indy racing, NASCAR, sportscars, rallying and motorcycling. Many were driven by their original drivers including Sir Jack Brabham, Sir Jackie Stewart, Sir Stirling Moss, John Surtees, Dan Gurney, Jacky Ickx, David Pearson, Giacomo Agostini and Al Unser. Current drivers there included Juan Pablo Montoya, Jenson Button, David Coulthard, Alan McNish, Ralph Firman, Justin Wilson, Felipe Massa, Takuma Sato and Al Unser Jr.

It was a superb 3-day event where you could get close enough to touch all the cars and mingle with the drivers.

Here are the 353 photos I took:

Incredible photos, Phil!  A visual feast!  This will take days to go through.

I surrender.

Thanks for posting them.

OK, fair enough.  Spectacular catch of a routine fly ball.  Would you give me that?

It's getting late here now.  Time for bed.
