What means »Auto Import«?
« on: November 19, 2016, 02:38:27 am »

I believe, the word "auto import" means, that files which I put in a directory which is configured for auto import, are imported automatically. But this is not true (at last not on my Pi). They are imported only when I select the point "auto import". May be I don't understand what "auto import" means?

Thanks for the answer. I understand: »Auto Import« means nothing. That’s fine.

Usually the answers can be found in the wiki.

It should work very quickly on local drives but because of shortcomings in the notify system on linux NOT on cifs or samba shares.
In these cases the auto-import directory is instead scanned every 2 hours.

It is an hard disk attached to the Raspberry no network share. And Auto-Import works not at all. Not after 2 hours, not after 2 days. Not at all. It works only if I start Auto-Import manually. But what is automatic if I have to start it manually?

Ok seems like we've been through this before.

What's the format of the attached drive? (FAT32, EXT4, etc?)
What are you set to import in your auto-import settings for this directory (media types?)
