Duplicate Entries in Library
« on: November 23, 2016, 06:42:14 pm »

My media library in MC22 has hundreds of duplicate entries, about half of which are inaccessible (as they point to locations that do not exist). How to clean up the library? (Running the Auto Import routine does not accomplish this necessary task.)

when you go to import, try changing the option "Fix Broken Links: Yes (Protect Files On Missing Drives) To Just "Yes"

Also If You Have Duplicates, You Can Use The smart-list "Audio -- Task -- Possible duplicates"

Be careful with Fix Broken Links.  It can do some odd things under some circumstances.  I keep it set to NO and do any cleanup tasks myself.

I use a smartlist to find files that don't exist.  You can create one very easily.  Here's what you should paste into the import/export dialog of your smartlist:

Code: [Select]
[=ismissing()]=1
That will show you just the files that are no longer on your system.  Then you can easily delete them from MC in large groups, or all at once.

If you know of a problem, please let us know how to reproduce it.  I'm not aware of a known problem.
