Column options, music playback
« on: November 29, 2016, 01:05:09 pm »

This may seem like a really basic question. I have MC 22 running on two computers. On one, there are chevrons on the artist, album, and genre columns which give me instant access to the artists' other work in my library and other songs in the genre. This great application just appeared sometime ago. I can't seem to set it up on the other computer, however. There doesn't seem to be anything listed in column options that would address it, but it's got to be in there somewhere. Anybody know how to add this?

Maybe this setting:
Options > General > Features > Linkable columns

It's on by default, but maybe you toggled it off?

I tried Options > General > Features > Linkable columns and they are ticked on both computers, so that isn't the solution. Thanks anyway though.

Linkable columns is exactly the feature you are describing.  If you haven't done so yet, restart MC after you change the option.

But 'linkable columns' is already ticked. I restarted anyway, but that doesn't help. In fact, 'linkable columns' is ticked on both computers but the feature only shows up on one....

Are your computers using MC in client/server mode?  Or are the two MC programs totally unrelated?

It's kind of a long shot, but links are now selectable per-field.

So double-check them here:
Options > Library & Folders > Manage Library Fields... > Pick "Artist" for example and make sure "Show a link checkbox" is checked.

Brilliant! That's it! Thank you very much. This is a most useful feature to have.
