Hi there,

JRiver noob here who installed MC v22.0.32 lately on a WIN 8.1 notebook.
Currently Iīm using it just with some in-ears (USB DAc will arrive soon).

I really like the look and feel of JRiver but I have the issue that only my music (shared on a NAS) can be heard (via MC).
Everything else (e. g. a Youtube video or a movie played via VLC from the NAS) is silent, no sound at all.

In MC I set the Audio Device to "Speaker/headphone (Realtek High Definition Audio) [Direct Sound]" with the Device settings to "Hardware Direct (sound card chooses)" but currently w/o any success.

Any hint how to solve this is much appreciated.

Try to get Youtube working first.

Are you playing it from JRiver MC?  Or are you using DLNA?

Try using the JRiver driver. Go to Tools>Options>General>Advanced>WDM Driver and check the box. Then restart.
When installed it shows in Windows>Control Panel>Sound as "JRiver Media Center 22"

Hi Jim,

i use MC just for my music stored on my NAS, hence I deactivated all plugins as Amazon, Youtube and so on.
Youtube was just an example where the sound not works. I play the video using their own webpage.

So no DLNA.

Same with my music stored on my NAS, no DNLA, just added the folders to the library.

Hmm...canīt find WDM in that setting option

OK..that did the trick.

Youube video was played with sound; same with a movie via VLC.
But once i return to MC (window was open; playback stopped) and press "Play" again I got a message saying "there was an error with the playback". 

Stopped again, pressed play again and then it works...hmm.

At least it works but still strange that it has to do with some "kind of workaround".
