User Account Control on start-up
« on: December 15, 2016, 12:20:13 am »

I have recently upgraded to Mediacenter 22 on a Windows 10 machine that I use for my server. I have set it to run Media Server on windows start up, but it asks for User Account Control permission before it will run. If the machine re-starts itself then JRiver effectively won't re-start unless I happen to be standing right next to it, leaving me with problems. It did not do this with MC21.

Do you have any recommendations?

Thanks

You probably have an earlier version of MC still running (perhaps starting automatically on Windows start up). Whenever you start one version of MC after having previously run a different version of MC, you will get the UAC prompt.

Thanks for responding.

Just to make sure, I uninstalled Mediacenter 21 altogether, it still asks for UAC on start up.

Check your UAC settings, and if need be, just turn it down or off.  UAC really doesn't do too much for security, and its more of a protection against user modifications than external threats.

Also try installing MC by right clicking the .exe file and selecting "Run as Administrator".
