Random application crashes Media Center 22.0.41
« on: November 19, 2016, 08:33:23 am »

This has been going on for a few builds, but only very randomly. Only appears to be when playing music, haven't had any crashes while playing video? I use an onboard optical output using the standard Windows (10) drivers.

I'm trying to capture a log now but since it is very random this is going to be a chore. Any clues from the eventlog? 0xc0000005 is an access violation I believe. All my files are on a NAS using a mapped drive. Auto import is disabled, using a scheduled task instead as described here: https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Auto-Import#Windows_Instructions

If I do manage to capture a log I'll add it here.

Antivirus software often causes such crashes.

Thanks Jim.
I just have the builtin Windows Defender. Have disabled the scheduled quick scans now to see if that helps. Would you suggest to disable Defender completely?
Looking at the history of crashes and scheduled scans they do not appear to overlap.

Try updating the NAS firmware.

Hmm, in the latest version the setting button brings you to the W10 settings and there is no longer an option to add exceptions! Will try and find a workaround.
The NAS (Synology) is up to date. Have been playing music since opening this topic and so far no crashes btw.

Since making the suggested changes the 'access denied' crash has not reoccurred!
However, now I'm seeing a new intermittent crash, sometimes on startup and playing a video straight away MC will crash. I have captured a logfile this time.

The event points to Madvr?

You could make sure that it is madVR by switching video to Red October Standard.

There is a current video driver problem that is causing madVR trouble:

That would appear to be the case, on RO standard there haven't been any crashes so far.
Any way to send some logs over to the Madvr developer?
