Problem with import audio albums: Duplicate Tracks
« on: January 29, 2017, 07:08:18 pm »

I am having problems with audio albums imported into JRiver.  Some albums appear with duplicates of tracks.  The library I am working with imports flawlessly using MediaMonkey (free version) and in the past also imported without issues into Window Media Center. I can not consistently reproduce the problem in JRiver. My music library has 9290 files (85.5 GB). It appears to randomly "hick-up" on different albums.  I have searched the Interact forum and see that this has been a recurring problem going back at least six versions of JRiver (I am currently running version 22.0.59). In all of the posts I found, the posts offer workarounds, but no solutions.  The workarounds seem to center on manual deletion of duplicates.  This would work, but is not practical with the number of tracks I am finding. I have tried new installs of JRiver and new libraries. I have tried bypassing Carnac by using folder drag and drop. Regardless, the duplicate tracks issue continues.  At this point this appears to be a bug in JRiver which renders JRiver unreliable as a repository for my music.

I am not interested in workarounds, since I have the music library in whole or part, on several machines.  What I am looking for is a fix that will prevent JRiver from adding duplicate tracks to albums in the JRiver library.

MC does not spuriously create duplicate tracks and albums.  MC has some behaviors that sometimes split one album into several, but even in that case it does NOT create duplicates.

Duplicates are just about always caused by several copies of the same files, or, as Tao has indicated, by these awful CUE files.

The best way to figure out what's going on, is to hover over any duplicate tracks and note the file name and path to each of the duplicates.  This will give you a good idea of where to start.
