Searching in Theater view

I am trying to create a simple way to search through all of my media in theater view.  Ideally, I would like to link the search function to the search key on my keyboard, and have it search both TV listings, and my locally stored media.  I have not been able to successfully do either.  Is there a way to accomplish either one of these?
