empty screen/window after start
« on: February 13, 2017, 07:01:11 am »

Hi, i just installed mc22 on debian but when i start the application i receive an empty window with nothing in it .. all white ?
Running latest debian and mc versions and connected to my server using mobaxterm. Running under root since my regular user also get a database read only error .. but thats for later to fix i guess.

Any clues ?

Thanks Koen

Are you running a 24 bit XServer? MC will not work with 8 or 16 bit XServers.

I don't know how to configure your setup but if you open a xterm and type in xdpyinfo you should be able to tell what you are running.

MC simply requires a 24 bit color XServer configuration and any client that connects to it must request 24 bits.

Since there are a lot of people doing what you are but the information is scattered around the forums I've started a new topic where users can contribute their configurations.
