"Save this view..." doesn't overwrite old version
« on: March 02, 2017, 07:13:38 am »

When using the Saved Views->Save this view... option and then using Browse to select an existing file, you are given the option to replace the existing file, but selecting Yes doesn't result in the file being overwritten - a new file is always created, and then when you come to Load a view there are an ever increasing number of "duplicates" to choose from.

A temporary solution is to go into the folder and delete the duplicates, but MC should be handling this correctly.

I can't reproduce that.  I can overwrite a file just fine.

Anyone else?

Works for me too.

Reminded me of a minor gripe...

By default, MC adds a "(1)" to the end of the proposed filename, as per screenshot below. I wish it wouldn't do that. Instead, when OK is pressed, it should then prompt for the overwrite, or cancel.

As it is, clicking the 'browse' button and double clicking an existing file prompts for overwrite, and does so if "Yes" is chosen.

Marko has hit the nail...

MC is automatically appending the (1), (or (2) or (3)) etc...  If I hand edit that away before hitting save then it overwrites.

If I browse to the file and then change the name of the view, MC once again adds the (1).

Solve that and I think my problem goes away.
