Hi all, so I know this topic has been discussed in the forum but after reading several posts going back a few years I still can't seem to find an answer to my questions.
I use JRiver MC22 with an Exasound E38 on Windows 10. I have a 5.1 speaker configuration. What I would like to do is have all 5.1 material (including movies) outputted as normal and all 2.0 material have sub information added.
After much reading, the correct settings seem to be in output format, channels set to 5.1, mixing set to JRSS, check the box "for stereo sources only mix to 2.1" and leave the other boxes unchecked, and set Subwoofer to Silent.
Then in Room Correction, set both the Left and Right speakers to the correct Crossover under Bass Management and select Move Bass to Subwoofer.
Here's where my confusion comes in and I can't seem to find the answer. If I select the crossover to be say 80 Hz for Left and Right speakers, will that also affect 5.1 sources that already have a subwoofer? In other words, will I be adding extra LFE to 5.1 sources and also be removing any content below 80 Hz from my LR speakers on those sources? Because I don't want to do that. I want 5.1 sources left alone and only 2.0 sources to have LR info sent to the Subwoofer.
If that's the case, would I need to make a zone specifically for 2.0 material and a zone specifically for 5.1 material with different bass management settings?
And if I didn't want to have different zones for 2.0 material and 5.1 material, would it be better to just not use any Bass Management in Room Correction and instead set the Subwoofer in Output Format to the desired crossover and call it a day? I know this Subwoofer setting preceded the Bass Management in Room correction but all I'm trying to do is find an easy way to add sub information to 2.0 sources and have 5.1 sources left as they are (besides the ability to change levels in Room Correction).
Appreciate the help and sorry for bring up yet another Bass Management topic.
