I'm a new user in 2nd week of my 30 day trial. I'm using windows 10 desktop and laptop platforms with the same result. I can play Netflix movies with no problem via the Netflix app stand alone but when I try to play them through JRiver, I get audio but no video (completely dark screen). Really! I have no idea how to trouble shoot. Searching the forum gave no clue. Any help or suggestions will be appreciated.

AFAIK, Netflix is not interfaced directly from JRiver. You can use the WDM driver to pick up the audio and use JRiver audio engine and all it's functionality. But the video stream must be played in Netflix' own player.

Disclaimer: Never tried Netflix myself, but this is how other video streaming services (like other TV channels' online services) work.

Well getting the audio through JRiver is half the battle because I wan't to move my DSP FIR filters from miniDSPs into the PC. But I also wanted the video to go through JRiver so I can maintain lipsync as my filters have appreciable latency.

As it stands now, I open the Netflix player in JRiver as connected media, which seems to be just like in a browser, and I get the audio but not the video. I see the cover art and early screens but once it starts playing the display goes blank while the audio continues. But even while the main display is blank, if I touch the timeline at the bottom with the cursor I can see a mini preview screen.

Trying to repeat that process now to describe it better, I keep getting an error
"Whoops, something went wrong" with error code H7053-1013

And the other funny thing is that everything else works. I can see YouTubes and play Amazon music and play DVDs from the computer's optical drive. I just can't see Netflix except when viewing them directly in the browser without the intercession of JRiver.

If you're trying to use Netflix via the web browser built-into Media Center 22, you'll need to change the web browser engine from Internet Explorer to Chromium.

I couldn't find a way to do that. Could you tell me how? Default browser on my PC is Chrome....

Tools > Options > Tree & View > Web Browser > switch Engine: Internet Explorer to Engine: Chromium via the drop down menu. Completely restart Media Center and/or the PC and try again. There may be some additional components that have to be downloaded before it'll work, e.g. the Widevine CDM plugin.

I did like you said re' chromium and got a netflix error message re can't find the WideVineCDM component, which it turns out is a Chrome component. Error code M7701-1003

When I followed a link for further help I was presented with a list of things to do to configure "chrome" so it would work plus a note that said that "chromium" wasn't supported

Like I said, Media Center needs to download an additional component, the Widevine CDM plugin, which is required for Netflix to work through MC's Chromium engine. It *should* automatically download this in the background - perhaps Hendrik has an idea here?

The DRM module is rather .. peculiar. There is no way to manually install it if the auto-install doesn't work. I'm afraid there is nothing we can do it it doesn't "just work" for some reason.
Modern streaming sites are not very welcoming to any third-party clients or anything of that sort.

If this is successful does this mean that I can use madvr's upscaling algorithms for Netflix material through MC22?

Can I also stream amazon and stan in the same way? My LG OLED upscaling is crap compared to madvr thru MC22. (Sorry to hijack thread).

No, the only thing you can ever do is play this through the built-in browser, and even that part is a bit ... unreliable.

Damn, thanks for that. It seems once again the only way to enjoy true HQ picture is to have access to illegal downloads. Even my cable box HD PQ is crap now I upgraded to a UHD panel. I spend like $150 a month on entertainment and I can't get any of it to play through my PC!

As I wrote earlier, I am not aware of any video streaming service that is directly interfaced by MC. And Hendrik has explained why. What works ok is to reduce audio latency to a minimum in MC to get ok sync. For me at least, that has meant no convolution, since it introduces seconds audio delay. I usually run fewer channels like 2.1 (streaming source is often stereo only anyway) and simple distance settings in MC DSP.

well I have hardware convolution engines for my L & R but was hoping to move filters into JRiver when I added center and surrounds and a Motu DtoA card. Seconds of latency for FIR in JR??? Would it be that bad at 2K or 4K taps?

I use Audiolense filters with 15 paths and 131k taps (the more the merrier...). Latency is of course much lower with 2k taps. Not tried that.

I heard a similar story from a friend. When asked why he used 64K taps, his answer was "because I can"

but he wasn't concerned about lip sync.

I am in general concerned about lipsync, but as long as I am playing local content in MC, lipsync is perfect even with a gazillion filter taps. More taps = better filter resolution in the lower frequencies (where my room stuggles the most).

I would love to be able to somehow sync external video streams also, though.

Not sure about audiolense, but acourate has an option to generate minphase filters. These have negligible delay.
They probably don't sound as good as the linear phase versions, but for TV and movies I doubt you will notice.

Then make a separate zone in jriver for streaming playback using the minphase filters

Acourate can also apply IIR filters to the low frequency past of the convolution filter, allowing you to reduce the taps and hence latency. I haven't done this myself however.
