Media Jukebox 8.0.394
« on: January 07, 2003, 01:05:22 pm »

Please Note: Support for TV and DVD playback has moved to Media Center.
TV and DVD are now only part of Media Center.

A new build of Media Jukebox is available:
ftp://ftp.jriver.com/pub/downloads/music/MediaJukebox8.exe

History:
1. Fixed: Media Jukebox was not recognizing Media Center licenses.
2. Fixed: During recording from Media Scheduler, Media Jukebox was giving error message.

v8.0.394 does not fix the licensing problem either. It's the same old story: Failed to restore the license.

Why do we have to download a new version?

Shouldn't the "Help : Check for Updates..." on the toolbar work?

That only shows what's been released, not what's available here.  We put the latest software here for a day or more before it gets released.

You don't need to download this build unless you've had a problem using a V9 license with V8.

I just "upgraded" to 8.0.394, but still get the following crash when I attempt to look at any CD in any drive:

Any my previous question about the same problem on 8.0.393 seems unlikely receive any sort of support or answer, where can I find and download a previous (working) version?  A bonus would be a version that still has the facilities I paid for, such as those have now been moved into version 9.

Ok...
I have posted before about the internal lame encoder no longer allowing you to select custom then enter a command line.  This worked before.
well...
I have found the problem.  It is in the Enc_mp3.dll.  The latest version on the plugin page doesn't allow it.  I was able to get my hands on the previous version of the dll and know it works perfect.  I am fine using this version but it would be nice if the latest one worked as well.

is it me, or doesn't v8 seem to get more and more unstable.   :-/

1) Visuals hang windows when cycling.
2) File assco. always loose themselfs.
3) If you turn off vis, then turn it back on (right-click display/none) then back on again (right-click display/visualization) jukebox crashes.
4) Skipping in the playback when you set the wav out or directsound to 32bit (my card has full support for it, and it works just fine in v9)

system info as shown from v8.

After running this for a couple hours, I finally decided to go back to 8.0.393.
A lot wierd stuff began to occur on my PC that did not really appear to be related to 394, but all was running perfect before 394. Then I noticed that after converting a coulple APE CDs to MP3, I found I had double entries for everything I just converted. I did not try regular audio CDs.
Also severl PC hangs and other strange abnormalities.
I went through many reboots just to see if a reboot would clear it up, and right after running 394, things began to go bad.
After returning to 393, all was back to being good. No hangs and no strange happenings.
You might consider shelving this one.

I don't think so, Victor.  I don't know what your problem was, but the build seems good.  We've got a lot of them out now.

Jim,
You may very well be right. I do have an enormous number of programs installed on my PC and the systray is full. It may very well be a misbehaving app that for some unknown reason only misbehaves when the new build is installed?
The fixes included in the new build hardly seem to be drastic enough to cause these problems.
When time permits, I will again reinstall it to see if I can figure things out... but for now, all is running very good with 393 installed.

I was running v82/88?  All the 9x versions crash MJ when I try and read a CD.

wnaspi32.dll: 4.71 (0001) , ASPI for Win32 (95/NT) DLL, Copyright © 1989-2002 Adaptec, Inc.

I should have read this thread first obviously because another user is reporting the same problem.

In Win9x, MJ relies on external ASPI, so...

Download latest Adaptec ASPI ver...close MJ if open...install ASPI...reinstall MJ over top of old

For the record.

Media Jukebox PLUS 8.0.394
Install Path: C:\Program Files\J River\Media Jukebox\

CPU: Intel Pentium III 999 MHz MMX
Memory: Total - 261 MB, Free - 138 MB
Resource Info: System - 63 %, GDI - 75 %, User - 63 %
OS: Microsoft Windows 98 SE

Internet Explorer: 6.0.2800.1106
ComCtl32.dll: 5.50.4916.400
Shlwapi.dll: 6.00.2800.1106
Shell32.dll: 4.72.3812.600
wnaspi32.dll: 4.71 (0002) , ASPI for Win32 (95/NT) DLL, Copyright © 1989-2002 Adaptec, Inc.
Aspi32.sys: N/A

And MJ still crashes when trying to read an unknown CD.  It doesn't matter whether I have Online lookup enabled or disabled.  There is no problem when the CD is in MJ's database from I think it was v .388 which had no problems with accessing my drives.

Is there a way to get a copy of 388?

bug, 8.0.394 scheduler
« Reply #18 on: January 16, 2003, 08:57:10 pm »

Hay,
Sure am glad you've repaired the scheduler so I can lunch a recording, but now, it won't end according to the requested 120 min.
I also like to point out that there are messeges that MJB issues, like "your 30 days to expirince album view has expiried" that would cause MJB not to start the schdualed recored.

As always thanks for a great job,
Niv

Everything was OK with 393. I do not have 393 and I have to go back to it. How can I get 393 so I can start using MJ again. MJ download page has only 394. Helpppppppppppppppppp.

Nikolay says the new release fixes the licencsing problem, I got the latest release by clicking on the link in his message, but it makes no difference. The error message is only "Error installing media jukebox licence"

I do not know what else to try

Ok comeon,
Pls fix the scheduler so it will stop recording according to the given time.

I leave MJB to record a radio show while I m at campus, and the scheduler just doesn't stop. It is eatting up space and it is quite difficualt deleting six hours of recording in so many files.

Pretty pls,
Niv

Upgraded to 8.0.394 and still does not recognize Media Center licenses or does so intermittently.
