Meaning of peak value in DSP studio?

What is the meaning of the peak value in the bottom left corner of DSP studio? I'm looking at the value, and it seems like I can exceed 100% even though none of my 8 channels ever get above -15dB in analyzer.

Also, why is the peak value the sum of all channels? When I reduced the volume of the 2 bass channels by 10dB, the percentages shown in peak value is drastically lower. Shouldn't the peak value be independent of the channels? As long as each channel is not clipping everything should be fine.

Bump.

With more testing, turns out the peak value isn't a sum of all channels.

But, a new question arises. Why does using convolution cause peak levels to rise 2-3x higher? The FIR I had in there was simply to undo the phase shift from the LR filters I have for the crossover.
