DSD multichannel files and JRSS
« on: April 11, 2017, 01:47:54 am »

I own a few (treasured) DSD albums which do not contain a 2 channel version of the music. These albums only have multichannel versions. In case of PCM multichannel and 2 channel play back, JRiver automatically mixed the stream to 2 channel (JRSS is on). However, a multichannel DSF file is not mixed to 2 channel by JRiver (despite JRSS being on). As one of my DAC's only accepts 2 channel input, the files do not play. Is there a way within JRIver to downmix multichannel DSF files to 2 channel (without converting to PCM). If that is not possible, then the only option is probably to convert DSD to high KHz 24 bit PCM first.

MC cannot perform any processing on DSD without converting to PCM first, sorry.
