Hi, I would like to know whether and how can I stream 24bit 192kHz FLAC and various DSF/DFF files to my ES 9018S DAC using JRiver MC22 now and MC23 in the future.

Not sure if I exactly understand your concern.  I have been using my Exasound E28 DAC to do this with JRiver for several years via USB2.  Kal Rubinson and many others have been doing it as well from JRiver in Mch and in Stereo. Exasound provides a custom Windows ASIO driver that accepts PCM up to 384k and up to DSD256.  I have used those formats/sampling rates successfully and enjoyably, and setup was simple.

Presumably, your DAC comes with a similar software driver to interface with JRiver and to support those formats and sampling rates and transmit them to your DAC via USB.

I do this playback entirely from files maintained in JRiver.  FLAC and DSF files are no problem and they are how I maintain the bulk of my media files - thousands of them. DFF files are problematical in that their tags cannot be stored in the media file, but they can be played.  So, I recommend against those.  However, there are DFF to DSF conversion tools.

I have not done Hi Rez streaming, in the direct input from the Internet to JRiver sense, if that is what you mean.  I have only used stored media files as input.  But, there have been few available sources to date for Hi Rez internet streaming, as opposed to file downloading.  But, I do not see why JRiver cannot stream those formats, though setup to receive those streams into JRiver might be more involved and is beyond my current expertise and needs.

The likelihood that JRiver would disable those capabilities now or in a future release is quite far fetched and inconceivable.

2. ES 9018S DAC is within Pioneer Bluray player which is located on the same local network;
My question is whether JRiver on a PC is capable to stream files on the NAS to Pioneer Bluray player over Ethernet/LAN. Pioneer player is capable to receive them over LAN.
Obviously all of the above in native resolution without any down sampling or compression.

PS. Playing over USB is inconvenient both due to a need for longer USB cables or/and noise produced by PC while listening to HiRes music. Lets be honest - opposite to mp3 quality listeners HiRes quality listeners dread seeing and hearing a PC (meaning noise) anywhere close to the listening place.

I do not know your Pioneer player but I have used MC to stream hi-rez files to my Oppo players via LAN.

Based on inactivity of this thread I assume not many JRiver users play HiDef music over MC. Apple corrupted/compressed quality music still rules.

1.  It was for a test purposes only. I generally use hard-wired connections, not streaming.
2.  I have no idea what "Windows Cast to Device" is (although I can guess).

I do not have MC, just considered buying it. However, wanted first to find out if it is any use to me before buying, that is why asked the questions in this forum.
Also, what is MC's additional value in playing High Resolution audio files? I can do that using Windows 10 and Pioneer BD player.

Well, you can try MC in the 30 day trial (that's fully featured) and see if it works out for your needs. That's what I'd recommend doing, actually.
